The Clydesdale Welcome Center is home to some of the worlds most beautiful rare black and white Clydesdales. Yukon Public Schools enjoy a statewide reputation for “Excellence in Education”. The community is supportive of the schools and places a high priority on education. Through various bond issues, top-rate facilities have been constructed and our district is considered a leader in the area of technology. Our schools are staffed with dedicated and experienced instructors. They are the strength of our schools and continue to seek new and innovative approaches to improve the quality of instruction. This attitude guarantees the citizens of Yukon an educational program of high standards that well deserves our ongoing pride. St. John Nepomuk Catholic School also offers an excellent educational program.
INTEGRIS Canadian Valley Regional Hospital opened its doors in Yukon on November 9, 2001. With a combined population of 60,000 people, the Yukon-Mustang area will now have access to this state-of-the-art healthcare facility. A full range of services, including surgery, lab, radiology, pharmacy, physical therapy, respiratory therapy, special procedures and maternity care will be provided. In 2005, the hospital will open doors to brand new four-bed intensive care unit.
Yukon has many recreational parks including the City Park which is a 47 acre-facility with covered shelters, playgrounds, restrooms, junior Olympic size pool, kiddy pool, 10-acre pond, nature trails, horseshoe courts, baseball, softball, sand volleyball, football fields, basketball, bank-shot basketball courts and the award winning handicapped accessible Freedom Trail Playground designed for all children.
Yukon is officially known as the Czech Capitol of Oklahoma. Yukon celebrates its Czechoslovakian heritage with the annual Czech Festival on the first Saturday in October. Come and join us at many of our other community events such as Easter on the Prairie, Concerts in the Park, Chisholm Trail Festival, Freedom Fest, and Christmas in the Park.
