Public Works
The Public Works Department consists of six departments that work together to maintain the City streets, vehicles, parks, buildings, utilities, sanitation service and assists community development in new construction.
Park Maintenance
The Parks Maintenance Department functions as the ground maintenance crew for all eight of Yukon’s city parks, assists the Street Department in mowing the medians and right-of-ways and assists the Parks and Recreation Department in setup for all special events.
Property Maintenance
Property Maintenance is in charge of all janitorial work done in the city buildings. In addition, the department repairs roofs, doors, plumbing and most electrical repairs.
Fleet Maintenance
Fleet Maintenance services all City vehicles and equipment, as well as, receiving calls for all of the Public Works Department.
Street Department
In addition to maintaining the streets and rural roads, the Street Department is accountable for all traffic-control systems, street signs and other signs that are not located on State Highways.
Water and Sewer Distribution
The Water and Sewer Distribution Department is responsible for providing the maintenance and repair of all water and sewer lines within Yukon city limits.
Sanitation Departmnet
The Sanitation Department provides service to all residents and commercial businesses. Repairs are made on the green trash carts free of charge. There is no limit on the number of bags a resident can place by their trash cart. The Oklahoma Environmental Management Authority (OEMA) operates the Transfer Station. Yukon residents can bring large items to the Transfer Station that cannot be picked up curbside. Residents that have a current Yukon water bill and driver’s license are allowed one free Transfer Station visit a month.
